Shanel Pratap
CEO, Co-Founder
As CEO and Co-Founder, Shanel leads sales, client relationships, team management, and strategy at Parlay One. Shanel plays a central role in our complex work across Indigenous organizations, healthcare, professional associations, sports, nonprofits, and corporate clients, balancing client priorities and budget realities while turning our work into long-term partnerships.
Shanel served on the Invictus Games marketing committee, while working with the entire Parlay One team to deliver high-volume and timely content for the event.
With 25 years of media experience, including work as a sports anchor, reporter, and news producer at CBC Vancouver and Global BC, Shanel builds trust quickly with leaders, executives, and enterprise-level public-facing organizations. He brings a broadcaster’s instincts for clarity, timing, and judgment, along with a gift for interviewing and finding the human centre of a story.
Direct, warm, and steady under pressure, Shanel balances creative ambition with business objectives and is the presence clients trust to protect both the story and the bottom line.
Jon Strocel
COO, Co-Founder
As COO and Co-Founder, Jon leads production operations, technical workflows, project systems, budgeting, scheduling, quality assurance, and multiplatform delivery at Parlay One. A citizen of the Métis Nation of British Columbia, he holds 51% ownership of Parlay One and serves as its CCIB Indigenous Business Principal.
Jon views Parlay One’s role less as delivering a set of shoots and edits and more as running the operating system behind a client’s communications. He translates fluidly between communications teams, producers, editors, broadcast crews, and technology so nothing gets lost in the handoff.
Jon designed and built Parlay’s cloud-first collaboration, review, approval, and asset management systems, enabling all project teams to work as one production operation when a client needs to meet their moment. This workflow ensures project delivery never depends on one person or location.
With more than 20 years at Global Television and 30 years in sports and live broadcasting, Jon is comfortable with deadlines. He thrives on making technical and editorial decisions when there is no room for error.
Our Team
Nick Basran
Production Manager
As Production Manager, Nick is responsible for producing, coordinating creative contributors, and moving projects through review and delivery at Parlay One, helping clients meet their moment, whatever that moment looks like.
Nick moves comfortably between editorial, technical, and client-facing work, holding the whole project together across producers, editors, designers, clients, and delivery systems, with the speed of a broadcaster and the care a nuanced story demands.
He works directly with partners and clients to translate feedback into actionable next steps and keep projects moving forward. Nick draws on an instinct for understanding the project, its goals and timelines, and knowing when to hold back rather than push a moment that is not ready.
He has contributed across recurring and sensitive engagements involving healthcare, Indigenous communities, sport, public safety, and live events. Specifically, during his work with the Invictus Games, Nick worked with injured veterans to create an environment where they felt safe, could be heard, and were unhurried in telling their stories, a clear reflection of the skill and empathy he brings to his work.
