Vancouver Police Foundation
Challenge
Parlay One was brought in to help the Vancouver Police Foundation demonstrate to donors and the public the real impact of their work. We had the privilege of an ongoing storytelling engagement that eventually extended into helping them meet their moment at the Above & Beyond Gala in May 2024, the Foundation’s first since 2015.
Process
Leading up to the the Gala, Parlay One’s storytelling was already showing donors and the public the impact of the VPF’s work in the community. That approach carried through and was amplified for the Above & Beyond Gala. Working alongside VPF and its event partners, we produced and delivered story films and a coordinated package of on-screen content, including lower thirds, sponsor loops, transitions and eight live-auction sizzlers. We also supported video asset coordination and playback integration for the event.
Parlay One also handled all graphics and visual work on the room’s screens and brought in Al Murdoch, the PA voice of the Vancouver Canucks, for the live auction voiceovers.
Outcome
In total, $2,847,000 was raised, $400,000 more than the previous Gala, and the event was named a finalist for the Canadian Event Awards in Visual Storytelling. Our work was described as creating “a tangible, emotional connection between donors and the initiatives”, with storytelling that was “powerful, purposeful, and unforgettable.”
